And here’s another midweek blogpost – this time from Bree + Ben’s backyard wedding in South Perth.
At this point I usually do a write up about the couple and how they met, or about significant events in their life up to the wedding day, but in this case as I didn’t shoot their engagement session, we didn’t set aside the usual time to get to know each other.
What I CAN tell you, is that Ben is the older brother to Cam, who runs Kuste Kombis, one of the best kombi van hire companies here in Western Australia. Naturally, he let Bree + Ben use his immaculately maintained Kombi to transport the bridal party around for the day. In the meantime, Bree + Ben zipped around in a Jaguar mk5 sedan driven by John from Belle Classic.
As an aside if you’re looking for something a little different to the usual limousines for your wedding day, Cam is your man.
Bree + Ben had planned a cracker of a wedding day. We exchanged numerous emails in the months leading up to the day about everything from timings, to venues, to lighting, and shoot locations.
They certainly knew what they wanted.
All that planning had paid off when I saw the backyard of a relative’s home decorated for the ceremony. They had picked the perfect place, and to top it off, we had perfect weather – cloudy with a bit of sun peeking through.
For the locations, we chatted extensively with Bree about specific places, because she wanted the photoshoot to match the look of the ceremony at their relative’s federation style home – having an old-world charm but still remaining sophisticated.
We made shots within the home itself which is stunning, and explored laneways and alleys within Subiaco’s residential district.
The reception was held at Marmion Angling and Aquatic Club, right by the coast facing the Indian Ocean.
Bree had decorated the venue with all sorts of flowers in jars of various shapes and sizes, along with wooden apple crates to give it that nice vintage touch.
Near the end of the night, I took Bree + Ben out to the lower level for some final images, and to give them a bit of alone time away from the party still happening upstairs.
In all, it was a pretty excellent day.
