When Simone approached me to shoot her wedding, I have to admit I felt a little daunted. Simone is a wedding and family photographer herself so her standards were definitely higher than the average person who didn’t know much about photography. Later that year she won the title of AIPP WA’s Wedding Photographer of the Year 2016 and since then I really felt the pressure to deliver 110%. The awesome thing about it though, is that Simone and Jason are two of the most easy-going people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Even when the zip on her bridesmaid’s dress broke, she wasn’t fazed at all.
They chose to have their wedding at Core Cider House in Pickering Brook, and this was the first time I’ve ever shot there. It’s an amazing place with sprawling orchards and great food. Core Cider House has since risen to one of my top 10 places to have a wedding. Simone and Jason chose to have their two furbabies with them at the ceremony, and that made me super happy! I love pets at weddings more than anything else and their German Shepherds made such a handsome pair.
Simone wanted a real party vibe to her wedding so she hired a bouncy castle (without Jason’s prior knowledge), a few lawn games and bought several pinatas for guests to smash up. We did all this and then snuck into an abandoned warehouse – that was possibly been haunted – to do their photoshoot. SO MUCH FUN!
