It’s been a cray-cray few months here at the iZO office – and it will be for another couple of months until wedding season winds down. But I really couldn’t wait till then to share with you this sweet wedding between Katie + Allan.
Allan works as an analyst for one of the big mining firms while Katie is a graphic designer, both based in Melbourne. It’s nice to know that right-brained creatives like Katie are booking me to photograph their wedding – I must be doing something right! They found us through her sister who was making the enquiries and they flew in for our meeting, as well as the engagement session. By the way Katie has an awesome blog that’s all about graphic design and letterpress – if you’re into that, check it out here.
One thing that caught my eye more than anything else was their smiles. Both Katie and Allan have the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen. Their pearly whites have to be their one defining thing as a couple. That, and how Allan is from South Africa, a place that is still on my bucket list! Through my time getting to know them, it has been fascinating hearing from Allan about what South Africa is like. I would so love to photograph a wedding in South Africa one day…any takers?!
Their wedding reception was held at Darlington Estate Winery in Darlington. They said from the start that they didn’t really have a date but were waiting to see venue availability, and I couldn’t agree more! Find the venue you love, instead of getting sentimental about certain dates, because that is what you’ll be remembering and seeing in your photos. The place turned out to be spectacular, the food just divine. I’ve been to a lot of venues and eaten a lot of wedding food; trust me when I say Darlington Estate ranks up on my list as one of the best for their food, and the scenery isn’t too shabby either.
Well that’s enough from me – scroll down to check out the photos!
