He was terrified.
The wind was buffeting against him so hard and the engines so loud, he couldn’t hear anything.
Yet here he was about to jump, and his only thought was, “I’m gonna do this – for her.”
He looked back at her, and she looked the happiest she had ever been. He turned back and looked out the hatch, bracing himself.
The last thing he remembers is a gloved hand coming into his field of vision, counting down from three and then, he was falling.
And it felt like it was going to last forever.
Mike + Novi came to us to shoot their wedding at Sandalford Winery in the autumn of 2013. They described their plans to us and we immediately fell in love with them.
We headed out to the Swan Valley to shoot their engagement session and had a ball of a time. Mike even organised to bring a bunch of props, including a bucket full of paper parasols which we used to great effect in the photos below.
They struck me as a quiet, soft spoken couple, yet one that loved celebrating life. Whether it was going out of her way to get a cake for Mike’s birthday no matter what, or styling their wedding (which you will see in a future post), they do not do anything in halves.
Which is what led us here.
After an eternity, the same gloved hand came back and gave him the thumbs up. He nodded.
Almost immediately, he felt his body jerk upwards so hard he almost threw his lunch, and then they were floating.
He looked up and there she was, just a few hundred feet above him, a parachute opened, and their descent slowed.
When they finally landed, Novi ran to him and threw her arms around his neck.
“Happy 8th anniversary, babe.” He whispered.
