Nicole and Peter met each other when they were travelling around Europe. She was from Canada, he’s from Australia.
As luck would have it, they hit it off and she soon made the move over here to stay with Pete.
I covered their engagement session in 2012 (yes they booked us THAT early!) and in October of last year they had their wedding at Wise Winery in Dunsborough.
It’s clear from spending time with them that they love each other dearly, even though they are so different. Pete’s more laid back and easy-going, while Nicole could be described as the boisterous, feisty one.
On the morning of the wedding, Pete wrote Nicole a beautiful letter and gifted her with a locket that had a picture of her dad in it. Nicole had lost her dad some time ago it was just her and her mum. Thus it was mum who walked Nicole down the aisle and gave her away to Pete.
Nicole handled most of the reception decor herself. She wanted succulents to be part of the table centerpieces so she started collecting/buying little porcelain jars and planting the succulents in them. According to her it took 12 months of daily watering and tending to her succulent collection before it was ready for the wedding. Now that is dedication!
They also weren’t big cake people so they had cheese in place of a traditional wedding cake, stacked up so it looks like an actual cake.
The weather turned out nicely even though there were threats of a storm. After the beautiful ceremony, we spent a couple of hours photographing them and their bridal party on the grounds of Wise Winery, before heading into reception.
